As the largest and most comprehensive independent, nonprofit school for the dramatic arts, The Theatre Lab’s mission is to transform lives through the theatre. Despite national recognition and countless accolades, the Theatre Lab staff and supporters frequently reported having a difficult time finding information on the website, leaving many opportunities on the table. What they needed was a website that:
1. Better reflected their vibrant programming and transformative work
2. Helped them meet enrollment goals
As part of the Gravity Switch team, I crafted a visual language and site visitor experience that addressed the challenges they faced and honored the creative heart of the organization. Some key highlights from the work I did included:
— Selecting a font pair and color palette that conveys a youthful, approachable, and supportive feeling
— Leveraging dynamic shapes, angles, and microinteractions to embody the creativity and fun of the organization
— Creating an engaging navigation and menu experience that emphasizes the creative spirit of the organization while still allowing the site to be easily traversed
— Designing a faceted filter interface and experience that made it easier to search and find programs, events, and faculty
