Website Design
The HCC Foundation (HCCF) plays a vital role in supporting Hillsborough Community College's commitment to provide affordable educational opportunities and a quality experience for its students. However, they had just one page on the entire college website, making it difficult for them to communicate their message while also raising money online to support the college and fund scholarships.
HCCF came to Gravity Switch to have a dedicated website built to address these challenges. My job as the designer was to adhere to and integrate their new branding onto the site while also designing engaging layouts and visuals that created a user-friendly experience with clear calls to action. When it came to the goal of increasing online donations, I worked with the strategy lead and development team to do four things:
1. Illustrate HCCF's impact through visuals (both with photography, infographics, and a homepage banner video).
2. Highlight student success stories.
3. Provide clear ways to donate.
4. Enable a secure donation process directly on the HCCF website, replacing their previous payment process on a third party site.
The redesign of the site was a smashing success! Not only did it garner multiple awards but it exceeded the initial goals of the site.
The Result?
— A notable increase in both online donations and scholarship applications.
— The spotlight on student success stories on the site enabled the HCCF team to emphasize their impact on the college and community through marketing channels, such as email newsletters.
